What is a Giclée print?
It is, in brief, an individually produced print which retains as much as possible of the texture, richness and vibrancy of colour that is found in original paintings.
Giclée prints (pronounced Jee’clay) are produced digitally on a large, exceptionally high quality ink-jet printer, using light-fast inks on special art paper. Because the original image is not split into four different colours and then broken up into dots – as in normal offset litho printing – the resulting image is truer. It comes as near as any reproduction to having the tones and hues of the original painting.
The paper used for these prints is Hahnemuhle 310 gramme, 100% cotton rag, acid-free archival watercolour paper, which should last 100 years. The ink used is Epson ultrachrome pigmented archival ink, which is said to have a life of 75 years.
Please note that the paper-size of Giclée prints on the Suffolk Cards site is a little larger than A4 (330mm x 240mm approx). In some circumstances it may be possible to produce A3 prints and if so these will cost 50% more. Please inquire by sending an email to me, Richard Webster, at richardxwebster@gmail.com
Each Giclée print will be inividually printed to order. This means that orders including Giclées will take a few days longer to supply than would otherwise be the case.
And if by any chance you are not happy happy with the quality of the print you receive, return it and I will refund you in full. (This applies to cards and postcards as well!)
