SUSANNA STANLEY

SUSANNA STANLEY was born near Horsham in Sussex. Her grandfather was a painter and sculptor and it was during her visits to his studio at the age of six or seven that she 'fell in love with paint' . With a husband in public life and three children she had many calls on her time and it was only some four years ago that she started painting in earnest, using oils for the first time. As in this painting, she frequently draws her inspiration from the Suffolk coast - especially from Aldeburgh where she has lived now for some thirty-five years. Her most recent artistic interest is in botanical painting and she has studied under the noted teacher of botanical art, Anne-Marie Evans. When not painting she spends a great deal of time working for the Susannah Trust, a mental health charity which she founded.
